I am not sure of the loading I need on the mezzanine floor?
Not a problem, generally loadings are worked out using the British Standard load tables referenced against your proposed usage of the mezzanine floor. Please advise the use of the mezzanine floor on our request a quote page and we will do the rest. For storage purposes please indicate if a mezzanine floor is for light use 4.8 Kn/m² (480kg in a metre square), a mezzanine floor is for medium use 7.32 Kn/m² (732kg in a metre square), or a mezzanine floor is for heavy use 9.6 Kn/m² (960kg in a metre square). If you are in any doubt please contact our mezzanine floor sales team for assistance.
Do mezzanine floors require Building regulation Approval?
Yes, mezzanine floors do require Building Regulation approval. However we would be pleased to make the application on your behalf through our approved inspector scheme saving you the customer time and hassle. We would provide engineering drawings, calculations, specifications and all liaisons with the approved inspector. It may be necessary for you to provide a floor slab details and a plan of your building showing all external fire exits. Once a submission has been made it only takes about 48 hours to obtain an approval.
Do mezzanine floors require Planning Permission?
Not necessarily - Only if your premises has shared car parking or parking belonging to the Council.
Why do some mezzanine floors require Fire Rating and others do not?
If your proposed mezzanine floor is to exceed in the following, 1 hour fire rating will be required to the underside of the mezzanine floor under Building Regulations:-

2. The size of the mezzanine floor exceeds 50% of the room it is to be installed in.
3. The number of people working on the mezzanine floor exceeds 3 at any one time.
4. The mezzanine floor is used for purposes other than storage, automated storage and maintenance.
Note:-
Fire rating may not be required under any circumstances if you propose to have a sprinkler system extended to the underside of the mezzanine floor. Unfortunately this can be a very costly affair. (Also see Technical Data).

Yes, you will need to inform your landlord. They will expect the mezzanine floor to comply with building regulations and will probably want to see drawings for their approval.

Internal mezzanine floors 99% of the time have 38mm thick high density flooring grade chipboard. External mezzanine platforms have galvanised steel chequer plate or galvanised steel open mesh flooring to prevent rotting and rusting from the weather.
